‘It Makes People Uncomfortable’: School Yanks Literary Classic

To Kill A Mockingbird is considered among the best of American literature.

The classic won the Pulitzer prize in 1961 after only one year from its publishing date, a very rare feat.

Not to be outdone, the movie adaptation of the book a year after that went on to win an Oscar–back when truly good movies won awards.

But apparently, none of that is worth consideration against the backdrop of kids whose feelings are hurt.

According to the Biloxi, Mississippi, School Board, difficult themes and language are inappropriate for eighth-grade school kids.

So they’ve decided to yank the book from the required reading list.

We’re pretty sure next on the chopping block will be War and Peace because there’s too much discussion of war and Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations for its endorsement of profit.

Here’s more from Redstate…

It’s a literary classic found in just about every junior high and high school classroom across America. But one school district is now pulling “To Kill A Mockingbird” from students’ lesson plans for an absolutely insane reason.

The Biloxi School District in Biloxi, Mississippi, said it made the decision this week to no longer have eighth grade students read the book after the school received some “complaints.”

“There is some language in the book that makes people uncomfortable, Kenny Holloway, vice president of the Biloxi School Board, told the Biloxi Sun Herald.

“We can teach the same lesson with other books,” Holloway added.

One Sun Herald reader described the move as “one of the most disturbing examples of censorship I have ever heard, the newspaper reported. The reader said that “the themes in the story humanize all people regardless of their social status, education level, intellect, and of course, race.”

“It would be difficult to find a time when it was more relevant than in days like these,” they added.

“To Kill A Mockingbird” was published in 1960. A year later, in 1961, the book won a Pulitzer prize and the very next year, in 1962, the story was turned into a Oscar-winning movie.

The book chronicles what life in the South was like for black people in the mid 20th century. The literary classic includes the N-word several times and uses the term “negro” on numerous occasions. The Biloxi School District will still allow the book in the library.

Boy Scouts Cave, Will Admit Girls Starting in 2018

Imagine, if you will, some version of America in the future wherein sons and their fathers demand that the Girl Scouts admit boys to the ranks of cookie purveyors across the nation.

Vitriol and cries of sexist hegemony would abound.

“Is nothing safe from white, male domination?” they would ask.

But those really mean boys should never have a club exclusively for themselves for the development of leadership and character.

That’s discrimination, you see. And the PC police just won’t have any of it.

So they’ve seen fit to ascend their troops to the upper echelons of the century-old organization and transformed it from within.

As of next year, the Boy Scouts will have need of a new name after announcing they’ll be admitting girls to the now co-ed organization.

[Insert Gender Preference Here] Scouts of America will soon become just another group for the liberal proselytization of our nation’s youth.

Is nothing sacred?

Here’s more from Fox News…

The Boy Scouts of America announced on Wednesday its plans to admit girls into the Cub Scouts and create a new program for older girls to allow them to earn the highest rank of Eagle Scout, a historic change after years of requests from families and girls.

The change is expected go into effect in 2019. Cub Scout dens, the smallest unit, will become single-gender, either containing all boys or all girls. The larger Cub Scout packs will have the option to welcome both genders if they choose.

“We believe it is critical to evolve how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children,” the Boy Scouts said in a news release.

“We strive to bring what our organization does best – developing character and leadership for young people – to as many families and youth as possible as we help shape the next generation of leaders,” the release stated.

The program for older girls is expected to be announced in 2018 and begin in 2019. Girls will then be able to earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout.

NFL ‘Quietly Tweaks’ Rules to Allow Punishment for Kneeling

If ever we needed more evidence that the NFL has finally accepted defeat and caved under pressure, this may be it.

After weeks of meetings between NFL officials, owners and players union reps, it has become clear that the powers that be are increasingly uncomfortable with the prospect of losing more of their fan base and millions of dollars in sales.

That might explain reports that the NFL has quietly changed the league rules to allow punishment of players for not standing during the national anthem.

Several owners and coaches have hinted already that they may pursue that course.

And with the rule change, this could be an opportunity for Trump to declare victory.

Here’s more from Daily Mail…

NFL owners are prepared to meet next week to discuss unilateral changes to league policy concerning players protesting during the national anthem.

In a conference call on Tuesday, chief NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said owners will consider allowing the players to give their input on the decision, but said the league would not need union approval to implement a change. A large number of NFL players have been protesting police brutality against minorities since 2016 without any punishment from their respective teams or the league itself.

‘I don’t believe that the anthem, per se, is something that needs to be collectively bargained,’ Lockhart said.

The NFL players’ union did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

As it currently reads, the policy says players ‘should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their hand, and refrain from talking’ during the anthem.

However, it stops short of saying players ‘must’ stand.

Beyond the possibility of any overt rule changes, the NFL may have quietly altered the wording of its current policy to give teams the incentive and power to punish protesting players who sit or kneel during the ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.’

Trump Reveals Massive 70-point Immigration Enforcement Plan

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are foaming at the mouth today after the week started off with a shot across the Democrat bow from the White House.

After President Trump’s not-so-public meeting with both on immigration, the takeaway was that he had caved on DACA and would go along with Democrat plans for some sort of amnesty.

But those hopes and dreams were dashed after Trump unveiled his 70-point immigration enforcement plan that includes massive increases in border security — including the wall — more internal enforcement, an end to various modes of visa violations, faux-asylum seeking and much more.

The kicker is that Trump pledged to support a DACA fix from Congress only if these enforcement details are included, which Democrats won’t agree to.

They’ll be just peachy keen with letting any DACA fix crash and burn so they can blame it on Republicans.

Here’s more from Washington Times…

Determined to finally solve illegal immigration, the White House submitted a 70-point enforcement plan to Congress Sunday proposing the stiffest reforms ever offered by an administration — including a massive rewrite of the law in order to eliminate loopholes illegal immigrants have exploited to gain a foothold in the U.S.

The plans, seen by The Washington Times, include President Trump’s calls for a border wall, more deportation agents, a crackdown on sanctuary cities and stricter limits to chain migration — all issues the White House says need to be part of any bill Congress passes to legalize illegal immigrant “Dreamers” currently protected by the Obama-era deportation amnesty known as DACA.

But the plans break serious new ground on the legal front, giving federal agents more leeway to deny illegal immigrants at the border, to arrest and hold them when they’re spotted in the interior, and to deport them more speedily. The goal, the White House said, is to ensure major changes to border security, interior enforcement and the legal immigration system.

“Anything that is done addressing the status of DACA recipients needs to include these three reforms and solve these three problems,” a senior White House official told The Times. “If you don’t solve these problems then you’re not going to have a secure border, you’re not going to have a lawful immigration system and you’re not going to be able to protect American workers.”

George Soros, NFL Players Union Best of Pals Against Trump

This week the NFL hit new lows with its core fan base down 31% and a fall from grace as Americans’ number one sport.

That might explain why players are mysteriously no longer taking a knee during the national anthem.

But the NFL’s long nightmare isn’t over yet.

Its tanking viewership numbers and lost advertisers will likely continue after it was revealed this week that the NFL Players Association, the official union for all players, is cozy in bed with a gaggle of liberal groups, including George Soros.

The NFLPA has for some time been donating money to groups like Planned Parenthood, pro-Amnesty groups, and the Open Society Foundation, founded by none other than Soros himself.

There’s really no need for further evidence of a profound disconnect between the NFL and its fan base.

But dollars speak volumes, and the NFL’s loss of tens of millions will force them to change or die.

Here’s more from American Mirror…

Follow the money to find the truth, and in this case, it leads squarely to the doorstep of George Soros and other radical far-left advocacy groups.

And as it turns out, the Colin Kaepernick-inspired national anthem protests may not have been such an organic, grassroots uprising after all.

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) doesn’t appear to be on the same political page as many of its fans, so its no wonder they would rather keep the lid on the causes it supports.

That lid was popped open on Friday by 2ndVote, a conservative watchdog organization for corporate activism.

The National Football League Players Association has recently financially supported a veritable “who’s who” list of far-left organizations, from Planned Parenthood to organizations protesting the deportation of illegal immigrants, among many others.

One such recipient is none other than the Open Society Foundation, chaired by billionaire George Soros.

2ndVote has found the NFLPA provides financial support to Soros’ Center for Community Change Action, the social justice arm of the organization, which, according to the Washington Free Beacon, “has been involved in direct action against President Donald Trump and Republicans before and after the November elections.”

The NFLPA has been donating to several far-left and anti-trump causes dating back to at least 2013.

Soros has a long history of funding some of the most radical and far-left causes in the United States.

Antifa Group Plans Nationwide ‘Deface Columbus Day’

Antifa is still on the rampage against the latest perceived injustice du jour.

And with Monday’s holiday celebrating Christopher Columbus and Antifa in need of more salacious news coverage, why not?

An Antifa affiliate in NYC called Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement made a veiled announcement this week that appears to be a coordinated plan either to pull down or deface all Columbus statues in the city.

The irony is clearly lost on the wayward youngsters at RAM who’ve forgotten that the American Revolution which led the way in the world for the constitutional protection of free speech was made possible both by the brave expeditions of Columbus and by the human rights espoused by the Christianity he boldly proclaimed.

Antifa is neither keen on fascism nor actual history.

Here’s more from PJ Media…

Violent left-wing anarchists have announced a nationwide campaign to deface Christopher Columbus statues this coming Monday.

Five Christopher Columbus statues have already been vandalized in New York City in recent weeks, according to Far Left Watch. In one case last month, vandals defaced a “larger-than-life” statue of Columbus in Central Park, leaving blood-red paint on his hands, and scrawled, “Hate will not be tolerated” and “#SomethingsComing” on its pedestal.

What is coming appears to be a coordinated campaign to destroy monuments all across the country on Columbus Day.

The NYC-based antifa group Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement (RAM) made the announcement on Thursday, September 21, calling on antifa groups nationwide to “decorate” their neighborhoods.

According to Far Left Watch, RAM is “an extremely militant group that advocates for the violent redistribution of property” and for “the abolition of gender.”

Legacy No More: Trump Nixes Obama’s HHS Mandate

You may recall landmark Supreme Court cases in recent months like Hobby Lobby and Little Sisters of the Poor in which the Court ruled that Obamacare cannot force organizations to engage in actions concerning health care that violates their religious beliefs.

But many of those organizations were still entangled in court actions against the Department of Justice.

That is until yesterday when the Trump administration delivered on a promise to end the draconian rule known as the HHS mandate which forced all organizations to offer contraceptives as a part of their health plans even if it violated their religious tenets.

The administration essentially expanded Obama’s exemptions to include religious and moral objectors.

Practically it neuters the entire mandate since the exemption is so broadly written.

Obama’s legacy is quickly unraveling.

Here’s more from the Hill…

The Trump administration on Friday rolled back an ObamaCare requirement that employers include birth control coverage in their health insurance plans.

Under highly anticipated rules published Friday, any for-profit or non-profit employer or insurer can stop following the birth control mandate on moral and religious grounds.

The changes also let publicly traded companies obtain a religious exemption but not a moral one.

The rules take effect immediately.

ObamaCare mandated that employers offer health insurance that covers birth control without a co-pay, with exemptions for houses of worship and some companies.

According to senior HHS officials on a press call Friday, employers will not have to file anything with the government to stop offering the birth control coverage; instead, they simply have to notify their employees of the decision.

The move could potentially impact millions of Americans who now receive birth control with no co-payments.

FBI: Las Vegas Shooter May Not Have Acted Alone

In the days since the Las Vegas massacre at the hands of crazed gunman Stephen Paddock, more statements and indications have surfaced that suggest this may not have been the act of a lone wolf.

First came claims by ISIS that this was an act of jihad.

These initially were dismissed as terrorists simply attempting to use the event as an opportunity for free media.

But since that time, mounting evidence has suggested that Paddock could not have conducted the extensive, international planning by himself.

The FBI has admitted that the scope of its investigation has crossed US borders.

And now ISIS is claiming to have converted Paddock six months ago.

If there’s any truth to this, it turns the whole story on its head.

Here’s more from PJ Media…

Did Las Vegas mass killer Stephen Paddock act alone?

Statements made by authorities investigating Sunday’s horrific shooting are increasingly indicating they don’t believe he was a “lone wolf” actor.

Both Las Vegas Sheriff Joe Lombardo and representatives from the FBI gave indications they are looking for other possible suspects.

Gun Control? Chicago Accounts for 10% of US Gun Deaths

There are many angles to take in the debate against gun control to prove how completely illogical it is.

But one has just presented itself as quite possibly the best we’ve ever seen.

And it’s just a single number.

In the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, liberals are jumping on the perennial bandwagon calling for more gun control.

Just as they did after Orlando and Sandy Hook and so on and so on.

But what would the country look like if liberals got their way with onerous gun-grabbing?

Well, just ask former Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of Chicago.

The Windy City has some of the most draconian gun control laws in the nation, so clearly, it’s one of the safest cities in the country, right?

Not so much.

According to a study by non-profit Gun Violence Archive, Chicago accounts for fully 10% of US deaths by mass-shooting.

GVA defines mass-shooting as victims of four or more in a single gun violence event.

So here’s the back-of-the-envelope math: Chicago makes up just .8% of the total US population, yet it accounts for a tenth of mass shootings.

How’s that gun regulation working out for you, Rahm?

Here’s more from DailyCaller…

Chicago accounted for approximately 10 percent of mass shootings during a 17-month period in the U.S., according to data analyzed by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The New York Times Editorial Board created a graphic depicting the total amount of mass shootings committed between June 12, 2016 (the Pulse Nightclub attack) and Oct. 1, 2017 (the Las Vegas massacre), based on data from the Gun Violence Archive.

The Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks gun violence in America, defines mass shooting as incidents where “FOUR or more shot and/or killed in a single event, at the same general time and location  not including the shooter.”

TheDCNF examined the number of mass shootings committed per city in that 17-month period, and found that Chicago made up about 10 percent of those incidents. Of the 521 mass shootings committed, approximately 53 occurred in the city of Chicago.

Chicago, on average, represented about 11 percent of total mass shootings in the country each month. The city, racked by gang violence, sees about three mass shootings per month, according to the data.

The city accounted for 19 percent of mass shootings in June 2016 alone, experiencing six mass shootings out of the 31 that occurred in entire country for that month. Chicago saw an average of about three mass shootings per month between July 2016 and October 2016, while the mass shootings climbed during November 2016 and December 2016.

Issues, Politics

Republicans Rebuff Dems Piling on Gun Control Debate

Republicans in Congress are pushing back on Democrats’ attempts to use the Vegas shooting as the latest cause celebre for gun control.

Sen. John Cornyn slammed, “I just think politicizing this terrible tragedy is beyond disgusting and we ought to wait a respect full period of time…before we get into the push and shove of politics around here.”

Others are pointing to the obvious: we aren’t even certain yet how Paddock obtained all the 23 weapons used in his rampage.

But Democrats have an even larger uphill battle.

The last attempts to pass gun control legislation were abandoned because Democrats couldn’t muster enough votes from their own party.

And maybe there’s an obvious reason why.

If Paddock were dead-set on murdering lots of people and gun laws would have theoretically prevented him from getting guns, he could easily have just driven a large truck into the crowd or run through it with knives in-hand.

Here’s more from Washington Examiner…

Republicans signaled Monday that they weren’t close to considering a new gun control bill anytime soon, even in the face of pressure from Democrats who say the Las Vegas shooting that killed 59 people means it’s time for Congress to act.

It’s a sign the GOP will once again rebuff efforts to pass any gun bill that Democrats have been seeking in the wake of a string of mass shootings around the nation.

“I just think politicizing this terrible tragedy is beyond disgusting and we ought to wait a respect full period of time, out of respect for people who lost their lives or were injured before we get into the push and shove of politics around here,” said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, when asked about the possibility of a bill.

Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., agreed that it’s too early to talk about gun control legislation.

“We do much better work when we allow the haze to clear,” Rounds said. “Most people I’ve talked to and visited with have been more focused on victims and their families right now and we’ll start out by offering our condolences to the families and those who are injured. Then, let’s get the facts about what happened and determine how this individual obtained the firearms. Did he have mental issues? Let’s get the facts.”

Republicans have often argued that the perpetrators of mass shootings are already lawbreakers, and that new laws aren’t necessary and wouldn’t be effective.

This time, however, the GOP is up against the largest mass shooting in history, which prompted Democrats to call on Congress to immediately to something to reduce gun violence.

“To my colleagues: Your cowardice to act cannot be whitewashed by thoughts and prayers,” tweeted Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who has been pushing gun control since the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012. “None of this ends until we do something to stop it.”
